Decide whether the design should read as a simple recessed-panel door, a traditional carriage-house pattern or a cleaner contemporary interpretation. Section joints, side and head seals, bottom seal, floor condition and door alignment all affect air and water paths. Ask how glazing and decorative overlays change panel weight and thermal continuity. The supplier should identify any limitations at coastal, high-humidity, high-wind or cold-weather sites and propose the appropriate coating, fasteners and seals for the stated exposure.
Installation sequencing also matters. Structural supports, electrical feeds and finished floor levels should be ready before final setting-out. Protect panels and tracks from impact and construction dust, then commission the operator, travel limits, balance, safety devices and manual release. Record model numbers, adjustment instructions and spare components in the handover documents so future maintenance does not depend on visual identification alone.
