Choosing among wood door factories in China should begin with a controlled specification and comparable evidence—not a generic ranking list. Product scope, construction, drawings, samples, test or certification records, capacity evidence, quality control, packing and commercial terms should all match the project. A factory that suits a hotel door package may not suit exposed entrance doors or a small custom order.

Define the Door Package Before Comparing Factories
Start with an opening schedule or RFQ matrix. Identify interior or exterior use, door construction, leaf and frame dimensions, finish, glazing, hardware preparation, performance requirements, quantity and delivery sequence. Without the same input, quotations may look similar while covering different products.
- Opening marks, quantities and drawing revision
- Leaf construction, core, face material and edge treatment
- Frame type, architrave or trim and wall interface
- Glazing, louvers, seals and hardware preparation
- Finish system, color reference and approved sample
- Required documents, inspection points, packing and delivery term
For interior architectural wood doors, the WDMA architectural door standards show why construction and performance categories must be specified. Use the edition and requirements adopted by the project; a standard name alone does not prove that a proposed door complies.
Factory Qualification Evidence
| Check | Evidence to request | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Product fit | Recent project references and production examples | Door type, size, finish and order scale |
| Engineering | Shop-drawing sample and revision workflow | Opening, frame, handing, hardware and interfaces |
| Materials | Species or substrate records, moisture-control method and approved samples | Traceability and consistency with the specification |
| Capacity | Line list, realistic schedule and current workload evidence | Capacity for this package, not a promotional total |
| Quality control | Inspection plan, records and nonconformance process | Checks from incoming material through packing |
| Commercial scope | Itemized quotation and exclusions | Like-for-like price, lead time and responsibility |

Samples, Drawings and Production Controls
A finish chip is not a full door approval. For a representative mock-up, record the leaf construction, edge detail, frame, finish, glazing and hardware preparation. Approve the shop drawing and sample against the same revision, then define what must not change without written acceptance.
- Before production: approved door schedule, shop drawings, material submissions and finish sample.
- During production: dimensional checks, moisture records where relevant, construction verification and finish controls.
- Before packing: opening-mark labels, quantity reconciliation, hardware preparation and visual inspection.
- Before shipment: packing review, carton or crate labels, loading plan and document set.
Compare Quotations on the Same Basis
Normalize each quotation to the same door schedule. Separate leaf, frame, trim, glazing, hardware, finish, samples, testing, packing, inland transport, international freight and installation support. State the named place and version when using an Incoterms® rule; the ICC Incoterms® 2020 guidance explains that these rules allocate costs, risks and obligations but do not replace the complete sales contract.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the largest factory always the best choice?
No. Suitability depends on the product, order scale, engineering support, quality evidence, schedule and commercial scope required by the project.
Can one sample approve the whole door package?
Only if its approved attributes and permitted variations are clearly documented. Different constructions, finishes, frames or hardware preparations may need separate samples or mock-ups.
